Trend Spotting: The Drop Veil

Mantillas and drop veils are showing up more and more in the weddings submitted to Bride Chic. I wanted to share this tidbit with you simply because this tells me something about brides and what's going on with their heads: Some of you still love topping it all off with a long and flowing veil.
Defined, a drop veil or mantilla style is circular, has no poufs or gathers at the crown and can literally be dropped onto the head in a single layer of lace or tulle. They're often bordered in lace or ribbon. Drops are ideal choices if you want to be veiled and your wedding dress has some exquisite back details you want to show off. A tulle veil is transparent enough without being so opaque to fog the details of that gorgeous dress. Above and below are a few of my fave pics from recent weddings on BC that I just adore...

Above: Notice Kate's veil is a very lightweight organza with no ornamentation to compliment the simplicity of her scrumptious dress by Lithuanian designer, Juozas Statkevicius. The fabric of which this dress is made is just so gorgeous on it's own, it needs no detail...
Above and Below: Candice's gown took my breath away when I first laid eyes on it. When I learned she designed it herself I was doubly stunned! To show off the truly lovely and original embellishments of this creation, she chose a tulle mantilla bordered in Alencon lace. Notice how it can be pulled back post ceremony. Stunning!
